The Great Pyrenees is a very beautiful and majestic dog. With his great height and his white coat, he resembles a Saint Bernard, but he is more elegant. Bold guardian of renaissance castles, the great Pyrenees is above all, a mountain dog. He is an excellent jumper and has displayed outstanding bravery in rescuing people lost in the snow. He is also a formidable adversary for wolf and bear.
The great Pyrenees has been used to improve the stock of the Saint Bernard and the Newfoundland, and is considered their aristocratic cousin. Although he needs a great deal of space for exercise, he adapts well to family life, where he is valued for his loyalty, his sweet disposition, and his fondness for children.
